The 2012 Master of the ocean is coming back to Cabarete with its 10th edition !

This popular competition will be taking place at the Playa Encuentro, on the North Shore of the Dominican Republic this February 23-27 th 2012.

Originally conceived as the “Iron Man of Water Sports”, the competition was created by German waterman Marcus Bohm , with the idea of providing an opportunity for Dominicans and Dominican residents to compete side by side with international professionals.

An elite field of watermen and water women compete against one another in the disciplines of SURF – KITE – Stand up Paddle and Wind Surf. ….the event has an “Overall” winner “Master Of the Ocean” as well as individual winners in each discipline.

Audrey Meyer, dare2fly kite school manager and 2010, 2011 will be defending her title as “Queen of the Ocean” in the overall disciplines.

Luciano Gonzales won the title for the “Master of the Ocean” 2011, 2010, 2006 and 2005. I can tell you already that he will be on fire to keep his crown!

“With the growth of both local and foreign interest, we hope the Dominican Republic will become not only a world class watersports meeting point but also a springboard for international competitors”, says Bohm.

In addition to his own personal initiative, the event supports local and national foundations, whereby they are given the opportunity to use the media platforms and event sites in order to raise money for their own philanthropic initiatives.
