The 1st “Copa Kiteboarding Turismo Internacional” took place this week end, August 14th and 15th in Puerto Plata. Everything was ready for a perfect kite event on the North Cost of the Dominican Republic.
Unfortunately the wind was not strong enough to start the heat even though the competitors were on fire to win the 10 000 uS$ in price money! More than 50 guys and 8 women had registered. A mixed between profesional kiteboarder like Alex Soto, Robinson Hilario, Audrey Meyer and of course Luciano Gonzales and new up coming stars.
The championship has been organized by the production company Global Level 10 which partners with the Minister of Tourism and the Cultural Tourism Cluster of Puerto Plata.
Although there was no kiting, people were stand up paddling, swimming, playing volley-ball and other family activities. The North Coast of the Dominican has beautiful beaches, perfect for sport activities and also relaxing.
The week end was fantastic: sunshine, concerts, bikinis contest, family activities, product marketing and exhibitions. Everyone had a lot of fun and got brought back safely on the free shuttle bus from the Copa Kiteboarding Turismo Internacional event. That was also pretty cool.
